Jonas, Software Engineering (Wi-Fi) Functional Manager
It's a great feeling that connects us all.
At AVM, my work is more than just a job. What I do has a direct impact on people, making their lives easier. It's a great feeling that connects us all here. I like my colleagues and the way we work together as a team. Nobody ends up repeating the same task unnecessarily because we just communicate so well. There's a culture of openness and interpersonal connection, and that's been my experience at AVM since I joined more than five years ago.
Everyone gives it their all
I originally started out at AVM as a developer, but now I manage a team of four colleagues. We ensure that the Wi-Fi chips in the FRITZ!Box models work as intended. Our work revolves around the integration, maintenance, and enhancement of various software components, from utility programs to Linux kernel modules and firmware code that's executed directly on the chips themselves. I love the responsibility that comes with my work, because every problem I solve can potentially affect many thousands of customers. Our developers exchange information directly and across different departments. Particularly when we're dealing with interfaces, that makes a lot of things easier.
Seeing more than software
At the same time, it also gives me a broader perspective beyond my own area of focus. I enjoy getting to know colleagues from the marketing or sales departments at our big parties in the summer and at Christmas, which also helps me to better understand a few things. The other thing I appreciate is how everyone is encouraged to be their authentic selves and try new things. I've attended our stand at trade fairs and presented products. This was optional, and an enlightening experience for me.
